The Astros Foundation Donates $15,000 to Supply First Responders with Water
A warehouse full of water came in handy last month, as Houstonians found themselves in desperate need of bottled water. The winter storm rolled through, freezing and bursting pipes all over the city which lowered the water pressure. Residents found themselves subject to a boil water notice, but many of them lacked the ability to boil water due to massive power outages. Grocery stores soon sold out of bottled water, and residents were unable to drink, cook, or brush their teeth. Organizations came to their aid.
The Astros Foundation donated $15,000 to the National Association of Christian Churches (NACC) to provide Texas Children’s Hospital with 22 pallets of bottled water. The Houston Police Department pulled through the NACC warehouse in trucks throughout the duration of winter storm recovery to pick up pallets of water to disperse to different units throughout the community.
NACC is grateful to The Astros Foundation for the donation. It continues to allow first responders to have the supplies they need.
