Texas, Houston – NACC Disaster Services works with Impact Houston Church of Christ to provide refuge to approximately 200 people who are fleeing the cold. Individuals in need were provided with hot meals, hygiene kits, pillows, blankets, baths, laundry services, snacks, coffee, drinks, security, and transportation at the NACC warming center. This weekend, the shelter’s cots
were all taken. All of the volunteers and nighttime staff who helped the city with the shelter are thanked by NACC. “Being able to give our refuge to people who don’t have a warm place to stay during these climate swings is a blessing,” Valerie Diaz said. Temperatures are expected to dip again in the future, according to the NACC. As a result, it will reopen to provide shelter to those who require it.
