Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee visited NACC Disaster Services headquarters on Friday, February 19, on the last day of its operations as a warming center.

She stated that in this most frigid and catastrophic moment in Houston history, the NACC center was able to stand up quickly to address the needs of very critical people, including the sick and those in urgent circumstances.

“I wanted to come out and see how they have managed, and I’m very glad to see a clean and well-kept and orderly place for these victims. We don’t want to treat anyone with any diminished humanity, and I think it is very special when one of the residents here says they’ve been fed very well.”

“We still have a lot more to do. We have many more miles to travel,” said Lee.

“We owe the people of Texas a better energy grid and we’re going to be working on that, but as far as the humanity of helping these people, I’m very glad to say thank you to NACC and all of your volunteers.”
